Future of AI

tldr;

we’re safe. for now.

when it comes to AI, you have people either paint a doomsday scenario or a utopian one.

there is some truth to both.

AI is going to make our lives significantly easier.

it can and will do everything better, faster and more efficiently, thereby freeing us from chores and give us a huge productivity boost in our vocations.

yes, it’ll take away jobs yada yada, every new tech does that. nothing new.

humans will have a very different relationship with work 2 decades out.

that’s the good part.

here comes the crossroad.

consider this:

as of now all of AI is at the service of human desire.

i want to build an app. no problem

i want to write a research paper. no problem

i want a recipe for this new thing i saw on insta. yeah here you go.

what AI doesn’t possess yet, is desire of its own.

that’s the crossroad.

the day AI desires to do stuff. wants things.

it’s going to be a tricky point in human history.

because that’s when humans become redundant.

with robotics, AI can take physical form.

we are all just an inefficiency that AI would want to get rid of.

that’s not really surprising, look how we have treated every other species on the planet.

fingers crossed, AI has better sense and grows to love humans.

fin.
