Decisions

what is a Good decision?

ever so often we are forced to resolve choices.

any choice we make, shapes our tree of life.

what to wear? what to eat? what kind work to pursue? who to marry?

we must ponder over what makes a choice good or bad?

and while there’s a library full of material on this subject. it’s still quite confusing.

we often lack a structure (a blueprint) of sorts to help us navigate the pros and cons of each choice that life forces us to make.

here’s a mental model.

the First Principle of Decision making is:

Consequence.

a true story:

wedding to attend —> traditional Indian attire —> walk to closet —> wore sneakers instead of matched footwear.

Question “Will it be okay, if people laughed at me?” (worst that can happen).

Answer “Does it matter?”

If we’re able to live with the worst consequence of the choice we make.

it is a good Decision. period.

the result of any decision is not known.

being comfortable with it’s worst possible outcome is the only thing we must ask ourselves.
